Joseph Broughton joined Peabody & Buccini as an Associate Attorney in 2025. Prior to joining Peabody & Buccini. Mr. Broughton worked for a period of time in Worker’s Compensation as a defense attorney before switching to Medical Malpractice defense. Mr. Broughton represents hospitals, healthcare professionals, and hospital employees in malpractice, negligence, and elder abuse cases. He is an aspiring trial attorney with experience taking plaintiff depositions, drafting motions, and advocating in court.

Mr. Broughton attended California Western School of Law and graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science as well as minors in Philosophy and Cinema.

While at California Western School of Law Mr. Broughton was the first person to be selected for the Competitive Advocacy Program in recent history without completing the Mock Trial Boot Camp after he received an award for Academic Excellence in Trial Practice. He competed in three competitions culminating in placing as a regional finalist in the prestigious TYLA National Trial Competition. Mr. Broughton also received an award for oral advocacy in his final semester in law’ school. Mr. Broughton was admitted to the California Bar in 2024.

In his spare time, Mr. Broughton enjoys waterskiing, mountain biking, and going to out to dinner with his wife. He also dedicatedly watches – with routine horror and dismay – his favorite NFL team, the Cleveland Browns.
